At its March 11 meeting, the Kane County Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend a zone change for Lot 194‑24 from Commercial 1 to Commercial 2 to the county commission.
The applicant said the parcel fits an area plan and that an adjacent parcel had already converted to C2. Staff mapped the parcel near Mammoth Creek Road and reported two supportive emails (one received the night before); no written opposition was reported. "I didn't have one person call in or email against the zone change," staff stated.
Commission discussion was brief and focused on context and compatibility with nearby C2 conversions. The commission opened public comment and no members of the public came forward. A motion to recommend approval of ordinance 2026‑07 (the C1→C2 rezoning) was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
The recommendation will go to the county commission for final action. The applicant described intended uses as a car wash, laundromat and later storage units; site plans and permit applications will proceed through the standard county review process.
