Kane County tables Chapter 1 general‑plan update after commissioners request more review

County staff presented a condensed and reformatted update to Chapter 1 of the Kane County general plan at the March 11 meeting, including updated statistics, a revised vision statement and added residential strategies. Commissioner Brown proposed language to emphasize protection for "current residents" and to preserve the established character of residential areas.

Following discussion and a request from one commissioner for more time to study the proposed policy language, a motion was made and seconded to table the item and the associated public hearing until the following meeting so commissioners could review the revisions. The motion carried by voice vote.

Staff said the revised draft pulls updated figures from census data and reformats the document to make the plan easier to use for staff reports and findings. Commissioners asked for a strikethrough copy and time to review the specific phrasing of the vision and residential goals before taking final action.
