Davis County commissioners on March 10 approved using $90,000 in opioid-settlement funds to support opioid treatment services administered by Davis Behavioral Health.
Todd Otzinger, presenting on behalf of Davis Behavioral Health, told commissioners the agency identified a funding shortfall that could interrupt treatment without additional support. Otzinger said the immediate need was $90,000 for services beginning March 10 through Dec. 31, 2026, and that the county should review the allocation annually to assess ongoing needs. “The most pressing need…was that they were gonna have a funding shortfall for opioid treatment of $90,000,” Otzinger said.
Commissioners voted in favor of the allocation; no dissenting votes were recorded. The approval covers the 2026 period and directs staff to monitor program stability and report back to the commission as conditions change.
The action uses county-held opioid-settlement funds; commissioners did not adopt programmatic changes beyond the funding allocation at the March 10 meeting.
