Mark Bloomberg told the Hudson County Board of County Commissioners on Dec. 22 that he surveyed roughly 60 residents (a majority from North Bergen) and that respondents oppose leaving trailers in Braddock Park.
"It's a County park, not a trailer park, regardless of what their uses actually are," Bloomberg said, and he asked for a clear timeline for removal and for the meeting sign-up confirmations to note that free parking is available to speakers.
County Counsel Alberico De Pierro responded that "there are still ongoing discussions with the State and the County and the Township. Everybody's working very well, very cooperative. I think there is a timeline very soon in the next couple of weeks, if I'm not mistaken, as to when the trailers that were part of the diversion will be removed." De Pierro added he did not have a definitive list of which trailers would be removed.
Commissioner Robert Baselice told the public that PSE&G had de-energized the equipment and said an emergency appropriation had been put in place to fund the trailers' removal; he said contracting work to remove the units had begun. De Pierro and Baselice told Bloomberg the municipality (North Bergen) is also involved and suggested attendees consult the North Bergen commission meeting for municipal action and updates.
Officials did not provide a final inventory of the units to be removed, and De Pierro said some questions remained about two remaining trailers. The county and municipal roles in the removal and any required State approvals were discussed but not resolved at the meeting.
