The Beverly Hills Village Council on Feb. 15, 2025, directed Interim Village Manager Trice to contact Colleen O'Toole and Warren Rothe to discuss terms for the village manager position after interviewing five finalists at a special meeting at Village Hall.
Council President John George called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. in the Village Council Chambers. Carissa Brown recorded the roll and attendees included President Pro Tem Drummond and members Abboud, Hrydziuszko, Kecskemeti, Mercer and O'Gorman, along with interim staff including Trice, Brown, Interim Public Safety Director Davis, Planning/Zoning Administrator Stec and Treasurer Linkswiler.
Why it matters: The village manager oversees day-to-day operations and implements council policy; identifying finalists is the key step before any formal hire or employment offer.
The council first approved the published agenda on a motion by Member Hrydziuszko, seconded by Member Kecskemeti. The body then proceeded to interview five candidates for the village manager role: Warren Rothe, Chad Baugh, Chelsea Pesta, Colleen O'Toole and Michael Reese. The record shows scheduled recesses and a lunch break during the interview schedule; the meeting began at 9:00 a.m. and resumed through the day with multiple brief recesses.
After completing the interviews, the council considered a closed-session discussion of the contents of employment applications for the village manager position. The council then approved a motion directing Interim Village Manager Trice to have conversations with Colleen O'Toole and Warren Rothe about the position, subject to reference checks and the dates those candidates could begin work. The motion directing Trice was moved by Member Abboud and seconded by Member O'Gorman; the minutes record the motion passed unanimously (7-0).
There were no public comments recorded during the meeting. The council thanked accounting firm Yeo & Yeo and staff for their assistance and wished President Pro Tem Drummond a happy birthday before adjourning. Member Abboud moved to adjourn, Member O'Gorman seconded, and the meeting adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
Next steps: The directive authorizes the interim manager to pursue reference checks and scheduling conversations; the minutes do not record a formal hire, employment offer, salary terms, or start date, and any formal appointment would require further council action.
