The Hancock County Board of Supervisors voted Jan. 22 in Garner to accept low bids and award three county road construction contracts totaling $3,019,360.22.
The board approved Resolution No. 2024-005 to award two single-box culvert replacement projects (BROS-C041(136)--8J-41 and BROS-C041(137)--8J-41) to Rognes Bros. Excavating, Inc. for $479,963.80 and later approved Resolution No. 2024-006 to award BROS-C041(138)--8J-41 to the same contractor for $219,642.95. The board also adopted Resolution No. 2024-007 awarding two resurfacing projects (FM-C041(139)--55-41 and FM-C041(140)--55-41) for cold-in-place recycling and HMA pavement resurfacing with milling to Heartland Asphalt, Inc. for $2,319,756.47.
Each resolution notes the board followed Code of Iowa requirements for notifications, hearings and letting. The board authorized Jeremy Purvis, P.E., the Hancock County engineer, to execute the contracts on the county's behalf after receiving required contract documents, including the contractor's bond and certificate of insurance.
All motions to award the contracts were carried unanimously. The actions will proceed through the Iowa DOT letting process and contract execution steps identified in the resolutions.
The awards cover culvert replacement and pavement resurfacing projects in Hancock County; the resolutions do not specify exact road locations or construction start dates. Funding sources for the contracts were not specified in the minutes.
