Hancock County Board approves hire, accepts treasurer's semiannual report and names depositories

During its Jan. 22 meeting in Garner, the Hancock County Board of Supervisors approved routine administrative items including a personnel hire, acceptance of the treasurer's report and a resolution naming county depositories.

On a motion by Supervisor Jerry J. Tlach, seconded by Supervisor Florence (Sis) Greiman and carried unanimously, the board approved hiring Chase Ulven in the Secondary Road Department effective Jan. 29, 2024 at $24.50 per hour. The board also accepted the County Treasurer's semi-annual report for the period July 1, 2023 to Dec. 31, 2023.

Separately, the board adopted Resolution No. 2024-008 naming a list of financial institutions as depositories in accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 12C and setting maximum balances; the minutes list maximums including $19,000,000 for Reliance State Bank (Garner), $1,000,000 for Clear Lake Bank & Trust (Garner), $3,000,000 for First State Bank (Britt) and other specified limits for regional banks. The minutes do not describe the county's overall cash balance or how these maximums relate to current deposits.

All motions passed unanimously. The minutes include standard attestation from Michelle K. Eisenman, Auditor, and Chair Gary Rayhons.
