The mayor of the City of Laurel told the Budget & Finance Committee on Jan. 13 that the city plans to issue an engineering request for proposals within the next couple of weeks and that the CHS raw and settled water contract, which expires this year, is under staff review. The mayor said a meeting with CHS will be scheduled to discuss the contract further.
Clerk/Treasurer Kelly Strecker reported that fourth-quarter financial reports are complete and that transit quarterly reports are being prepared. Strecker also said an Altana 11-month certificate of deposit matured at an annual rate of 4.19% and will be rolled over into a 12-month CD at an annual rate of 3.69%.
No formal action was recorded on the RFP or the CHS contract during the committee meeting; the mayor indicated those items are pending staff review and a future meeting with CHS. The committee noted the Lion's Building ceiling repair at Riverside Park was raised at a recent Park Board meeting and that that issue will be discussed at a later date.
The committee set its next meeting for Jan. 27, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
