Safety committee flags disconnected fire-alarm link and plans modest courthouse and shop improvements

Boone County’s quarterly Safety Committee met Feb. 17 and raised several facility and safety items for follow-up.

Commissioner Brian J. Yosten, chair of the Safety Committee, opened the meeting at 10:00 A.M. Committee members reported that the fire-alarm alert panel in the Sheriff’s Office was disconnected from Good Samaritan and the Boone County Health Center, prompting a need to review alarm monitoring and notification. The committee also requested a quote from Applied Connective for an additional camera at the Petersburg road shop and approved adding a drip edge above the courthouse north entrance to prevent drainage from collecting on sidewalks.

Jenna Church, Region 44 Emergency Manager, agreed to assist the Road Department and other county officials in obtaining government ID/emergency cards. Rod Nelson, courthouse maintenance, and other committee members will pursue the quotes and logistics. The Safety Committee adjourned at 10:12 A.M.; the items will be handled through routine follow up rather than immediate board action.
