The Ludington Area Board of Education on Dec. 22 unanimously approved two action items: a $1,400 stipend for members of the LESPA bargaining unit for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years and adoption of “Resolution E,” an Opt-In Rescission related to 31aa funding.
Board President Dr. Bret Autrey called the special meeting to order at 5:01 p.m. and recorded five members present. The first formal vote approved the stipend motion, made by board member Mike Winczewski and supported by Michael W. Nagle, secretary. The motion authorizes payments to follow the LEA payment schedule and passed 5-0.
The second vote adopted Resolution E, described in the board packet as an Opt-In Rescission developed by Thrun Law Firm, P.C. The resolution provides a process by which districts that had previously “opted in” may rescind those opt-ins by providing notice to the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) no later than Dec. 30, 2025, at 11:59 p.m., subject to potential extensions. Alan Neushwander moved the resolution and Stephanie Reed supported it; the board approved the motion 5-0.
No citizen participation was recorded. The meeting adjourned at 5:14 p.m. following a motion by Nagle, supported by Reed.
