Superintendent Brad Reyburn and Director of Finance Julie Reams used the April 8 meeting to update the board on facilities and budget planning ahead of negotiations.
Reyburn said the district’s football-field fencing project is underway and staff aim to finish before graduation. He said he met with district staff over spring break to review finances and prepare for the first round of negotiations; he reported the administration is considering offering off-schedule options and, given current uncertainty, he favors year-to-year salary contracts for the near term.
Reyburn also told the board he plans to bring a renewal of the sinking fund to the public in May 2025 and to ask in May 2026 to increase the life of a bond; he underscored that the proposal would not increase millage. Julie Reams reported proposed budget changes tied to new billings and said GRPS provided a portion of extra funding that was added to a budget line. Reams asked administrators to finalize spending by the end of April so she can produce accurate budget numbers for negotiations.
The board received these updates as background; no formal budget votes were taken at the April 8 meeting.
