Madison County’s Board voted unanimously (28-0) on April 21 to adopt 20 resolutions that appoint or reappoint trustees and members across multiple local boards and special districts, including cemetery boards, fire protection districts, and streetlight and park districts.
The slate included reappointments for the Marine Cemetery Association Board and multiple fire protection district trustees and the appointment of Bill Stoutenborough to fill the vacant County Board District 9 seat for the unexpired term ending November 30, 2022. The chair declared the resolutions adopted after a unanimous roll call.
Separately, the board tabled three additional appointments (to the Madison County Flood Prevention District Council, the Madison County Transit Board and the Wood River Drainage & Levee District) until a County Administrator is appointed. A motion to table those three passed (ayes 27, nays 0, one abstention by Mike Walters) after discussion about timing and administration.
Board members who spoke during the motions emphasized the committee review process and deferred to local committee recommendations. The board’s actions were procedural and did not appropriate new county funds for the appointments.
The appointments will be processed by the County Clerk’s office and included in the official minutes.
