Charlotte County approves sewer pump purchase, major invoices and several 2026 appointments

At its Dec. 10 meeting, the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors approved a series of operational and administrative items including a replacement sewer pump, finance approvals and committee appointments.

Public works staff reported the motor for the sewer pump below the sheriff’s office (installed 2009) is near end of life and replacement lead time would be about four months if it failed; Falwell Corporation quoted $17,942 for a replacement motor. The Board approved the purchase to avoid the costs and operational burden of manual pumping during a long lead time.

The Board also approved FY2026 invoices for payment totaling $765,228.11 and utility payments paid after the November meeting totaling $14,775.80. Supervisors approved a Health Department appropriation and set the organizational meeting for Jan. 2, 2026 at 8:00 a.m.

On appointments, Richard Hall was appointed to the Industrial Development Authority (Charlotte Court House); Brian Poindexter was appointed to the Phenix Planning Commission; Patrick Andrews was appointed as the Phenix town representative to the Planning Commission; and P.K. Pettus was appointed to a Roanoke River Rails‑to‑Trails position. Piedmont Senior Resources appointment was deferred to the January meeting.

Board members also reported on committee activity including Tri‑County Community Action donation distribution, planning commission attendance and facility repair needs. With no further business, the Board adjourned.
