The Washington County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved two zoning actions on April 7: a text amendment to Article 3.B (Corridor Commercial District) and a map amendment rezoning a defined parcel near the intersection of US-64 and NC-45.
Planning and Safety Director Allen Pittman told the board the Planning Board recommended revisions to allow specified uses in corridor commercial areas where public sewer is not available and to update the lists of special and permitted uses. After a brief public hearing with no substantive opposition, the board voted to adopt Ordinance ORD-066.
Pittman then presented a zoning map amendment contingent on the text change; the board approved Ordinance ORD-067 to rezone a portion of parcel 687.00-49-3872 southeast of the US-64/NC-45 intersection. Commissioner Tracey A. Johnson moved to open the public hearing and Commissioner John C. Spruill seconded; later, Commissioner Spruill moved to approve ORD-067, Commissioner Ann C. Keyes seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Mitchell Patrick, referenced by Commissioner Keyes as the county sewer expert, was in the audience and had no comment during the hearing.
Both ordinances were presented as signed copies incorporated into the meeting record. The board did not attach conditions beyond text changes and the rezoning as presented.
