County staff updated the Washington County Board of Commissioners July 1 on the EMTOC project, including site-selection progress (two proposed sites: near MTW and near Main Street), proposed design, budget and grant funding status. Staff recommended the board approve the proposed design in concept and authorize entering a design contract subject to attorney-recommended modifications.
Commissioner Carol V. Phelps moved to approve the proposed design in concept; Commissioner John C. Spruill seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Later in the meeting, after a closed-session period, the board approved the EMTOC architect contract with the stipulation that County Manager/County Attorney Curtis S. Potter sign the contract.
Jason Squires noted soil sampling and longer-than-expected timelines for completing contracts with Weyerhaeuser; staff said the design contract should be finalized with attorney-recommended modifications before execution.
Ending: The board approved the concept design and authorized the architect contract subject to the county attorney’s final changes; staff will proceed with contract finalization and site studies as noted in the project update.
