Council reviews MOU with Towson University for visitor-center staffing and a county MOU tied to $100,000 conditional loan

Town Administrator Vicky Rinkerman told the Council she has sent a draft Memorandum of Understanding to Towson University proposing that students open and operate the Tome Visitor Center when volunteers are unavailable. The arrangement would cover weekend hours in June, July and August from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., and leverages students' on-site presence related to Map Turtle research. The Council reviewed the draft and awaits Towson University's response.

Rinkerman also presented an MOU from Cecil County that outlines County support for a local business development project, including a proposed $100,000 conditional loan as part of an agreement involving the State of Maryland (Department of Commerce), Cecil County and the business. The Council expressed general approval but did not take a formal vote; Town Administrator Rinkerman will present the MOU to absent Mayor Wayne Tome Jr. for signature before forwarding it to the County.
