Town Administrator Vicky Rinkerman told the Town Council on Sept. 2 that a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) award of $600,000 has been approved and signed by Mayor Wayne Tome Jr. to fund additional storm-drain work on Granite Avenue and Race Street. Rinkerman emphasized that the timeline for completing the project is critical.
Rinkerman also said the committee overseeing the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant discussed proposed improvements to Marina Park and reviewed an engineer’s preliminary concept for initial park use. Separately, review of the Rock Run Bridge request for proposals (RFP) has been completed and release is expected in two to three weeks.
Public Works & Code Administrator Dan Jamison reported that sidewalk repairs at the promenade have been completed and that materials have been ordered to repair damage to the boat launch following a recent collision.
The minutes do not list construction start dates, contractor names, or a detailed storm-drain schedule. Rinkerman flagged the project timeline as critical and indicated standard county and state requirements remain part of final approvals for site-plan items such as BLC Lot A LLC's industrial building proposal, which previously received preliminary Planning Commission approval pending County requirements.
