Council reviews Bainbridge subdivision approvals and recounts closed-session investment discussions

Town staff told the Port Deposit Town Council on Aug. 5 that the Planning Commission approved the final subdivision plan for Phase I, Lot 1 of the Bainbridge development—splitting Lot 1 into Lot 1A and Lot 1B—on June 12.

The council also reviewed a prior closed executive session held July 15 under the Annotated Code of Maryland, Gen. Prov. §3-105 that considered the investment of public funds related to Phase I of the Bainbridge development. Meeting minutes state that a roll-call vote at that July 15 session recorded Deputy Mayor Brown, Councilman Berlin, Councilman Knight and Councilwoman Thiele voting yes; no open-session action resulted from that closed session.

During the Aug. 5 meeting Rinkerman reported a storm-related incident involving Bainbridge property: a tree from the Bainbridge property fell and damaged a shed on Center Street, and the State Highway Administration is assisting with cleanup in coordination with the affected property owner.

The council did not take additional public-action votes related to Bainbridge on Aug. 5, but members directed staff to continue routine planning coordination and to present contract or funding items to the council in open session when formal approvals are needed.
