Alta residents ask Lincoln County to study joining from Teton County

Two Alta residents asked Lincoln County commissioners Dec. 6 to consider a process that could move the town of Alta from Teton County to Lincoln County.

James Carlo Cannell, dialing in by Zoom, said Alta residents feel growing discontent over services they receive relative to their taxes. Dan Anderson, an Alta resident and owner of the Teton Tepee Lodge, said Alta is disconnected from Teton County’s seat in Jackson and asked the commission to open a dialogue about whether Alta should join Lincoln County. Chairman King asked the residents to submit an analysis and supporting documentation for the commission to review before the board would study the matter further.

What happens next: Alta residents were asked to provide formal documentation and an analysis; the commission did not commit to any action but said it would study the issue if supporting materials are submitted.
