Council approves Ascent at Red Sky tentative map and several variances

The Snowflake Town Council on Aug. 5 approved the tentative map and requested variances for the Ascent at Red Sky development after Planning & Zoning recommended approval and the fire department signed off on safety requirements.

Brian Richards told the council the project had been through Planning & Zoning and that the variances requested had been recommended for approval; Captain Kriter with the fire department approved fire protections. Meyer described the submission as “one of the nicest plot maps that has been presented.”

Councilmember Reid Stinnett said the project was finally addressing issues previously raised by the planning commission. Motion by Byron Lewis, second by Travis Kay to approve the tentative map and variances passed unanimously with Bjornn absent.

Council records indicate the drainage report was favorable and that utilities placement was discussed; Meyer asked that utilities be located in utility easements rather than in the middle of the street. The council did not attach additional conditions beyond the variances recommended by Planning & Zoning at the Aug. 5 meeting.
