At the Sept. 2 Snowflake Town Council meeting, several residents urged the council to act on neighborhood concerns about a private lot on Hillcrest/Sandtrap that residents say is being used as an equipment yard.
Angie Daniel told the council the site has a chain-link fence, a backhoe and work trucks and said the yard detracts from neighborhood beautification: "How can you be favorable to stopping the duplexes but not stopping this lot from being used as a yard. Move it somewhere else. Make it a park area." Tyler Daniel, speaking on behalf of a neighbor, said he "found nothing in the town code that allows for this type of use" and noted that development review typically requires a 6-foot masonry wall if equipment storage is approved.
Stan Longwell asked the council to place the matter on a future agenda, citing narrow streets, vehicle speeds and increased construction traffic that he described as a security and safety concern.
Bill Plantz, chairman of the Silver Creek Senior Center, described growing demand on the center's food bank and volunteer program. He said the center provides meals on wheels, daily lunches, and a thrift store supported by donations and volunteers, and noted it runs "three food distribution events a month," asking the town to help advertise and recruit volunteers.
None of the speakers requested immediate council action in the meeting record; council members acknowledged the comments and later continued with the consent and action items on the agenda.
