The Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted Dec. 30 to accept a State Interconnectivity Grant totaling $230,699.51 to support maintenance and upgrades to county emergency communications. EMA/911 Director Brian Barton presented the grant request; Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve the grant and execution of related documents, and the motion carried with all in favor.
The grant is earmarked for several specified projects: SouthCentral Mountain CAD Maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE Maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet Maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS Maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain Battery Upgrade, and Fulton ILEC Maintenance. HR Administrator Mary Huston attended the grant presentation.
Separately, the commissioners approved hiring Troy Wagaman as a Per Diem 911 Dispatcher, effective pending clearances. The board held a brief Salary Board meeting at 9:48 a.m. to set the salary for the newly hired dispatcher. Commissioners entered an executive session later for personnel matters and subsequently adjourned.
The grants and staffing actions aim to support county emergency communications capacity; the hire remains contingent on completion of required background clearances and the salary-setting action recorded by the Salary Board.
