The Bedford County Board of Commissioners held routine business on March 12, approving minutes, expenditures, personnel actions and a slate of proclamations and agreements.
Commissioner JR Winck moved and Commissioner Deb Baughman seconded approval of the February 13, 2024 minutes and the presented expenditures; the motions were approved. The board approved multiple Purchase of Service agreements recommended by Christopher Gresko, administrator of Children & Youth Services, including contracts naming Hoffman Homes, Inc., Centre County Youth Service Bureau and an agreement with Heather Dawn Sipes as a facilitator for the Incredible Years and Strengthening Families Program. Gresko said the program is valuable and noted facility arrangements; "This is a good program," he said.
The commissioners appointed Tiffany Jones to serve a three-year term on the DBHS Advisory Board on the recommendation of Sandra Benko, M.Ed. The board also approved an agreement with Wessel & Company to serve as acting finance director effective Feb. 23, 2024, and approved changing the Children & Youth Services complement from two part-time transporters to one full-time transporter.
Proclamations and resolutions approved at the meeting included recognition of March 12, 2024 as Pennsylvania Equal Pay Day; a proclamation designating April 2024 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month presented by Susan Hawthorne of Your Safe Haven, Inc.; a proclamation designating March 17–23, 2024 as Pennsylvania 4‑H Week read by 4‑H leader Garrett Hubbard; and Resolution 03.12.24 commemorating the 56th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act and declaring April 2024 as Fair Housing Month, presented by CDBG Administrator Jeffrey Fellers.
The board approved a list of personnel actions presented by department heads, including new hires (Lindsay Gillen; Lisa Wakefield; David Burgos; Angie Addario; Christy Hatrick), transfers (Erica Lehman from PT to FT transporter; Catey Cain, telecommunicator promotion), and the separation of BreAnn Shaffer effective March 15, 2024. Commissioner JR Winck moved to adjourn at 10:39 a.m.; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Deb Baughman and carried. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 9, 2024, in Room 303.
