Commissioners raise concerns about TxDOT work, Cargill overpass and county road impacts

During the April 8 meeting Commissioners discussed upcoming Texas Department of Transportation construction that may affect County Road 15, County Road RR and County Road K1. Commissioner Charles Wilkins said TxDOT may need to cross CR 15 and that the county could be required to raise the roadway to accommodate a new entrance to a Cargill facility from the planned overpass. He also expressed concern about potential road closures while work proceeds.

Judge Isabel "Izzy" Carrasco said TxDOT has set up trailers to use as offices at the site and invited commissioners to visit for coordination. Carrasco said he will attend TxDOT meetings and keep the Court informed about needed county responses and scheduling.

No formal action or vote was recorded on funding or construction-authority requests; the item was discussed so county staff can coordinate with TxDOT as construction begins next week. Commissioners did not provide details about required permits, cost-sharing, or any formal interlocal agreement; those items will need to be worked out in future coordination meetings.
