Burleson County court approves permits, appointments and equipment purchases

The Burleson County Commissioners Court approved a series of routine business items Sept. 8 in Caldwell, including permits for utilities, reappointments to a groundwater board, equipment procurement and fee schedules.

The court approved two Frontier Communications permit applications for installation and/or repair of telephone facilities in the county right of way at locations in Somerville (project numbers listed in the agenda) and approved a Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative permit for work on County Road 413. The motions were made and seconded by commissioners and passed unanimously.

Commissioner Vincent Svec moved, with a second from Commissioner Dwayne Faust, to reappoint Becky Goetsch, Jay Wilder and Buster Evers as directors of the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District for the term Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2029; the court approved the reappointments.

The court approved Proposal #7542 from Homeland Safety Systems of Shreveport, La., under GSA Contract #GS-07F-063BA for an on-camera system, and approved replacing a UBEO copier supplement for the County Attorney with a multi-function machine at $75 per month in place of the previous $35/month supplement.

Commissioners also approved Special Road Use Permit #2025-3-50 for Wildfire Energy Operating LLC, left trail-ride permit fees at $50, and approved the 2026 Sheriff and Constable fee schedules as presented.

In the Sheriff
nd law-enforcement reports earlier in the meeting, Sheriff Rios said the department has staffing openings for jailers, three dispatchers, one in patrol and one CIT officer, and reported 60 inmates in the county jail (46 males and 14 females). Constable Jason Rhodes summarized duties including civil process, an agreement with Parks & Wildlife on marine safety, traffic calls and mental-health calls; Sgt. Stohler said the department is one patrol officer short and one officer is in training.

The court authorized payment of bills and adjourned.
