Washington County selects Oakley Collier Architects to design AV/EOC building

The Washington County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on April 3 to select Oakley Collier Architects of Rocky Mount as the most qualified firm to design the county’s AV/EOC facility.

County Manager Curtis Potter presented the committee’s recommendation and the motion, made by Commissioner Tracey A. Johnson and seconded by Commissioner Ann C. Keyes, carried without objection. The authorization directs staff to begin negotiating an agreeable contract and, if negotiations are unsuccessful, to negotiate with the next highest scoring firm shown on the scoring sheet.

Commissioners did not vote on a contract value at the meeting; the action approved the procurement process recommendation and permitted staff to finalize terms. The board’s vote signals approval of the selection and allows project procurement to move to the contract-negotiation phase.

Next steps: staff will negotiate contract terms with Oakley Collier Architects and return to the board with a recommended contract for approval or, if negotiations fail, pursue the next-ranked firm per the approved motion.
