At its March 28 meeting the Rawlins County commission approved advertising for sealed bids to tear down and remove the coal shed and to remove the landfill scale frame, and approved contractor and maintenance payments related to landfill closure work and county facilities.
The board voted to advertise sealed bids for demolition of the coal shed and removal of the scale frame with bids due the Friday prior to opening on April 15, 2024. County staff reported landfill Cell 7 is about halfway dug. The commission approved Application and Certificate for Payment No. 1 from Miller & Associates for Landfill Cell 5 & 6 closure and Cell 7 development (payment details are recorded in county finance records but are not restated in the minutes).
Commissioner Mark Mosley moved to approve Gary's Electric's quote for a standby generator and electrical work for a chiller; Commissioners approved staying with Glassman for boiler and chiller maintenance after comparing quotes. Earlier, the board approved March 2024 vouchers.
An attorney-client executive session on landfill and recycling was held with Recycling staff Corey Castens; commissioners returned to open session with no action taken.
