Rawlins County approves up-to-$45,000 purchase of used semi; Road & Bridge to propose foreman wage range

The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners authorized the Road & Bridge department to purchase a used semi from Big Iron with a spending limit of up to $45,000 if the department has budget authority. The motion was made by Commissioner Alan A. Solko, seconded by Commissioner Mark Mosley, and carried during the Nov. 27 meeting.

Road & Bridge representative Mark Loop updated commissioners on blading and the HRRR project and raised staffing concerns tied to his upcoming retirement. Commissioners asked Loop to develop a proposed wage range for a road foreman and a supervisor position to inform recruiting and budgeting decisions. No specific wage figures were adopted at the meeting; Loop was tasked with returning with a recommendation for the board to consider.
