The Union County Board of Commissioners on May 14 reviewed the Auditor’s account with the county treasurer and approved audited claims and warrants.
The Auditor reported totals for April 30, 2024: deposits $15,613,183.70; cash on hand $5,550.49; checks and drafts $1,228,198.81; investments $13,257,061.98; cash variance $1,094.27; credit card outstanding $9,607.73; total funds administered $30,114,696.98. The minutes note that these totals include funds administered for cities, schools and townships and other pass-through accounts.
Commissioners approved payroll for May 17, 2024 of $97,506.29 and a list of audited claims and vendor payments recorded in the minutes, including notable entries such as Butler Machinery ($19,426.91), One Way Wireless (tower) ($23,136.65), Ollies (meals) ($14,104.50), Dakota Law Firm (public defense) ($10,341.75), and multiple public defender and legal payments of $6,295.70 listed for individual attorneys. The motion to approve claims was moved by Commissioner Kimmel and seconded by Commissioner Dailey and carried.
The minutes record many routine vendor payments and do not show roll-call vote counts for the claims approval. The board also scheduled a special canvass meeting on June 6, 2024, noted elsewhere in the minutes.
