At the May 14 session the Union County Board of Commissioners set a special meeting to canvass the Primary Election and approved several routine licenses, a donation request and an indigent determination.
The board scheduled a special canvass meeting for the Primary Election on June 6, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. Commissioners also approved annual malt beverage license renewals for the 2024–2025 year for establishments including Dakota Dunes Country Club; TR Golf LLC dba Two River Golf Course; H&H Enterprises Inc. dba Coffee Cup Fuel Stop #6; Cubby’s Dakota Dunes; Becker Investments dba Park Jefferson Speedway; DDH, LLC dba Holiday Inn Express & Suites; and Shelby Alves dba Interstate Speedway. Motions to approve the renewals were recorded as carried.
Dale Harkness requested a $3,000 donation for the county museum; Commissioner Dailey moved to approve the $3,000 donation and Commissioner Joffer seconded; the motion carried.
On an indigent assistance matter, Welfare manager Steckelberg advised the board that application 24-IRR-004 would be denied because the applicant was not a Union County resident. Commissioner Kimmel moved to deny the application; Commissioner Headid seconded and the motion carried.
All actions were recorded in the minutes as carried; the minutes do not show roll-call vote breakdowns. The meeting adjourned at 10:58 a.m. until May 28, 2024.
