At its Nov. 13 meeting the Fayette County Board of Commissioners approved multiple routine and substantive items by unanimous votes where recorded (4-0, Commissioner Eric K. Maxwell absent) including license changes, contract renewals, procurement updates and project agreements.
Key actions the Board approved include: the change in ownership of a 2025 retail alcohol beer and wine license (M25-06074) for Sana Gorar, Ashnaz, LLC (doing business as County Land Country Store) at 2708 Highway 92; renewal amendments with Judicial Correction Services (JCS) for probation supervision (Superior and State Courts) for 2026; an underground easement agreement with Georgia Power to serve a new viewing tower at the Tactical Driving Course Phase II project; and amendments to the Purchasing Ordinance and County procurement Policy 200.01 (the latter approved with a correction to add the vice chairman as an authorized signatory).
On water and transportation projects the Board approved a $221,681.22 reduction to the amount payable to GDOT under contract PI 0013726 (revising the contract to $1,819,817.10), ratified Contract #26052-S for emergency water line improvements with CMES in the amount of $211,055.22, and awarded a FY2026 elevated water storage tank maintenance contract to American Tank Maintenance (not-to-exceed $740,691) with a $54,691 CIP transfer. The Board also approved Contract #2522-P for asset management software (VUEWorks) to AtkinsRéalis USA Inc. for $260,400 with optional renewals and a small reallocation from contingency.
The Board adopted Resolution 2025-11 to amend and adopt Fayette County’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan, formally including a Vision Zero target year of 2040 to reach zero roadway deaths and serious injuries; Transportation Engineer Paola Kimball said failure to meet the target would require reassessing the plan and continued crash tracking. A separate resolution (2025-12 on infrastructure minimum standards) was withdrawn and tabled to the December 11 meeting.
Several routine housekeeping items were also approved, including adding the Eva Gardens subdivision to the County Street Light Program, disposition of a tax refund for $610.73, approval of the 2026 Board meeting schedule, and approval of multiple sets of prior meeting minutes. The agenda item on Superior Court judges' compensation was pulled and moved to the Jan. 8, 2026 meeting. The Board recessed into executive session on real estate acquisition and returned to approve the executive session affidavit and minutes before adjourning.
