The Coffee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved two change orders related to construction at the Premier Sports Complex during its Nov. 3 meeting.
County Administrator Wesley Vickers reviewed Change Order No. 1 for INODIC #GA-0013741 with Lancore Engineering to add design services for the concession stand building, asphalt parking lots and playground equipment. The meeting transcript lists an original contract figure as $180,988.889 and a new contract total of $261,628.89; the board approved the change order unanimously. (See clarifying details about the transcript number format.)
Vickers also presented Change Order No. 1 with Harper & Company Builders to add Musco Lights at the Premier Sports Complex soccer field, which the county said is the City of Douglas’ preferred lighting. That change order is $85,452.00 and brings the project contract total to $4,179,747.00. Vickers told the board the majority of the lighting costs will come from a grant and the remaining cost will be paid from SPLOST VII. Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the Harper change order.
Why it matters: the change orders increase the county’s outlays for the sports complex and alter the project scope to include specific design work and specified field lighting; the board indicated coordination with the City of Douglas and reliance on grant funds for lighting.
What’s next: the county will incorporate the design additions and lighting into current project plans and proceed with contractor coordination. The meeting record did not specify grant source or timing of light installation.
