Vice-Chair reports on Housing Day and meetings with state lawmakers

Vice-Chair Hope Harmon told the commission that she attended Housing Day at the Capitol on Feb. 22, where state leaders and organizations discussed the state of housing, rental issues and homelessness in Georgia. She reported meeting with Rep. Lessa Hagan, Rep. Clay Pirkle and Senator Carden Summers to discuss local issues and legislation that could affect south Georgia.

Harmon said transportation weight limits were a topic receiving attention and that proposed bills likely will change as they move through the House and Senate. She relayed that Representatives Hagan and Senator Summers offered their availability to assist the county with state legislative concerns.
