The Ben Hill County Commission appointed Rudine Cleveland to the Fitzgerald Ben Hill County Library Board during its Sept. 6 meeting after Vice‑Chair Hope Harmon nominated Cleveland and a motion closed nominations.
Chairman Steve Taylor opened nominations; Commissioner John Mooney moved to close nominations and Commissioner Bennie Calloway seconded. The appointment was approved by the four commissioners present.
In county updates, County Manager Michael Dinnerman reported the Ed Ward Road project is ahead of schedule. He also said the county has an ambulance‑service extension with Grady through Nov. 18 and that staff continue to work on ambulance service options. The minutes do not provide additional detail on vendors, contract terms, or costs for ambulance service.
Ag Agent Holly Anderson and 4‑H Agent Laura Lee Hughes gave an update on local agriculture and 4‑H activities and thanked commissioners for purchasing a van and for allowing staff to borrow a van when needed to support Ben Hill County students.
