Putnam County board authorizes Phase One final plat for Publix development

The Putnam County Board of Commissioners authorized the chairman to sign the final plat for Phase One of a Publix development at its Nov. 7 meeting after reviewing conditions on incomplete infrastructure.

County Attorney Adam Nelson explained that the final‑plat approval includes a bond to secure completion of unfinished infrastructure, consistent with the Putnam County Code of Ordinances. Mr. Rick McAllister, agent for Lake Country Retail Investors LLC, outlined scheduled work and costs to finish the project, including relocating a transmission pole, adding a curb cut and completing final road paving. Mr. Adam Shaifer, representing the owner and developer, expressed appreciation to the board and said the team was eager to move forward.

Commissioner Richard Garrett moved to authorize the chairman to sign the Phase One final plat; Commissioners Tom McElhenney, Richard Garrett, Steve Hersey and Jeff Wooten voted in favor. The approval allows the developer to proceed under the terms described and the bond arrangement noted by county counsel.
