Commission hears staff and community updates; executive session canceled

Commissioner Rosa Romeo introduced Dionne Lovett from the CRC during the March 11, 2025 meeting. Commissioner Ben Thompson asked whether the county could post photos of illegal dumping for identification purposes; County Attorney Aaron Meyer told the board the county may post pictures provided they contain no personally identifying information.

Lagina Evans updated the commission on new services at the local hospital and said an employee appreciation event with food trucks will be held March 25-26, 2025. EMA Director Harvey Cryder Jr. said the county debris site has been cleaned and cleared; a tower left at the site has been offered to the 4-H shotgun team, and if they do not need it the county may surplus and sell the tower. County Manager Lori Burke said bids for the 2024 LMIG will open April 3, 2025, and reminded commissioners to check available Soup Kitchen volunteer dates. The county coroner reported being assigned an office at the Sheriff27s Department.

The commission briefly voted to enter executive session to discuss personnel but canceled the session shortly afterward when it was no longer needed. Chairman Will Boyd adjourned the meeting at 10:03 a.m.
