At its Nov. 25 meeting the Sumter County Council approved three ordinances in largely unanimous action.
Council granted first reading to Ordinance 25-1039, authorizing an option to purchase and a right of first refusal on property on Race Track Road. Vice Chairman James R. Byrd Jr. moved to grant first reading and Councilman Charles T. Edens seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
In old business, County Attorney Johnathan Bryan presented Ordinance 25-1037 — amendments to Sumter County Code, Chapter 26, Article II, Section 26-45 — to update the business license class schedule and rate schedule per Act 176 of 2020. Councilman Edens moved and Vice Chairman Byrd seconded to grant second reading; the motion carried unanimously.
Council also granted second reading to Ordinance 25-1038 to approve conveyance of a temporary construction easement of 0.02 acre on South Pike West to the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Vice Chairman Byrd moved, Councilman Edens seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
All three items were approved by unanimous council action at the meeting; no amendments or recorded dissents were noted in the minutes.
