Cavalier County reviews departmental budgets; assesses $0.07/acre for Devils Lake Basin and trims JDA mills

The Cavalier County Board of Commissioners reviewed departmental budgets July 16, including presentations from NDSU Extension, the Water Board, Devils Lake Basin (DL Basin), the library, senior meals, soil conservation, recorder/document preservation, clerk of court, JDA and sheriff/dispatch.

Commissioners asked the Water Board to report back on cash on hand with the intention of possibly lowering the levy. During the meeting Commissioner Greg Goodman moved to assess $0.07 per acre to benefited acres for the Devils Lake Basin; Commissioner Stanley Dick seconded and the motion carried.

Later in the meeting the commissioners directed Auditor Lisa Gellner to reduce the JDA mills by $25,000 to utilize cash on hand. The minutes record this as board direction to the auditor for implementation.

The board asked departments to keep commissioners apprised of any further changes to budgets or cash position ahead of implementation steps.
