Cavalier County approves $3.50/hour incentive for summer oil crew to obtain Class B licenses

On May 21 the Cavalier County Board of Commissioners approved an additional $3.50 per hour as an incentive for summer oil crew members who obtain a Class B license.

Road Foreman Sheldon Romfo told commissioners that 12 summer oil crew members had been hired and would begin work in early June; he said some crew members will help replace road signs and mow. Romfo discussed Class B licensing and the need for licensing among crew members. Stanley Dick made a motion to increase additional pay by $3.50 per hour for the oil crew as an incentive to get a Class B license; Nick Moser seconded the motion and it carried.

Stanley Dick also asked that some oil crew be trained on placing and checking traffic counters. The minutes do not record which specific crew members will receive training or the budgetary impact of the incentive beyond the per-hour amount approved.
