Road supervisor outlines County 55 plans and Langdon shop follow-up

Terry Johnston, Cavalier County road supervisor, told the Board of Commissioners on April 2 that KLJ has provided project updates for County 55 that cover gravel placement, drainage work and dust-control plans for the coming summer. The board discussed operational and budgetary implications and did not set new local load limits, instead deciding to wait for the state to issue load-limit directives.

Johnston and commissioners reviewed remaining FEMA funds by district and the county's gravel budgets. The board authorized the road department to use its discretion on gravel purchases or lifts beyond the planned maintenance schedule, rather than prescribing specific additional expenditures at this meeting.

The commission also confirmed that the closing on a county shop in the Langdon industrial park was completed; Johnston was asked to obtain insurance on the facility and to switch the utilities into the county's name.

The road department will proceed with the planned summer maintenance and implement the board's discretion-based approach to any additional gravel needs. No formal vote tally beyond motions carried was recorded in the minutes.
