Franklin County Fiscal Court approves participation in national opioid settlements

Frankfort — Franklin County Fiscal Court voted on Sept. 24 to join the national opioid litigation settlements and to approve the county’s participation and related release paperwork.

Squire Kelly Dycus moved to approve Resolution #37-2025 authorizing the county to participate in the National Opioid Litigation settlement with manufacturers listed in the resolution; Squire Mike Harrod seconded. The resolution and the Secondary Manufacturer’s Combined Subdivision Participation and release form were approved by the court with all members voting in favor.

The county’s resolution lists participation with settlements involving manufacturers named in the minutes, including Alvogen, Amneal, Apotex, Hikma, Indivior, Mylan, Sun and Zydus. The approval authorizes execution of the necessary documentation to accept settlement funds and the associated release form. The minutes do not specify the estimated settlement amount Franklin County expects to receive.

The court also approved a Memorandum of Understanding and attestations intended for agencies that will receive opioid funds from the county at the same meeting.
