District leaders told the board that Kelloggsville Public Schools has been selected to receive a $350,000 SME PRIME (Partnership Response in Manufacturing Education) grant following an application by Mr. Linker.
Jeff Owen reported the grant — part of a national PRIME initiative — is intended to help partner schools and private industry build manufacturing and engineering programs by supplying equipment, curriculum and teacher training at no cost to the district. Officials said details remain under development.
Administrators also reported that the new Southeast Media Center and the Kelloggsville High School STEM addition are finished and operational. Students have begun using the new machines and equipment; examples of student work were displayed for the board.
The district is expanding STEM coursework, with plans to add Advanced Placement Computer Science and additional sections of introductory computer science for 2024–25, and noted existing programs from elementary Lego Robotics through a high school Robotics Team.
