At its Dec. 29, 2025 meeting, the Dubois County Council approved several year‑end fiscal moves and budget housekeeping items. Auditor Sandra L. Morton presented appropriation requests and a resolution to reallocate motor vehicle highway funds; all motions passed unanimously.
Auditor Sandra L. Morton requested an additional appropriation of $45,000 from the LIT‑ED Fund to pay Krieg DeVault for legal services related to the Regional Sewer District. Councilmember Ryan Craig moved to approve the request, Councilmember Meredith I. Voegerl seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Morton then presented Resolution 2025‑18 to transfer $346,106.95 from the MVH Highway Fund (Fund 002‑1176) to the MVH Highway Restricted Fund (Fund 060‑1173). Councilmember Ryan Craig moved to adopt the resolution, Councilmember Alex P. Hohl seconded, and the council approved it unanimously. The resolution reiterates that beginning Jan. 1, 2019 the county must post at least 50% of State MVH distributions into the restricted fund and stipulates that any amounts allocated above the required 50% must remain in the restricted fund until expended for construction, reconstruction or preservation.
The council also approved a transfer of $144.73 within the Adult Community Corrections Grant Fund, moving that amount from Travel & Training to Personal Services for health insurance. Councilmember Ryan Craig moved the transfer, Councilmember Doug Uebelhor seconded, and the transfer carried unanimously.
Auditor Morton asked the council to authorize President Michael W. Kluesner to approve any remaining year‑end budget transfers if required; the council gave unanimous consensus for the president to approve transfers following notification to the full council.
Morton told the council the Department of Local Government Finance had not yet issued the 2026 Budget Order and it was expected before Jan. 15, 2026. No votes failed and the meeting adjourned at 11:44 a.m.
