The Franklin County Fiscal Court on Jan. 24 unanimously approved a slate of reappointments to local boards and districts and handled routine fiscal business during a brief session held at the Fiscal Court Conference Room and streamed online.
Reappointments approved by unanimous vote included Eric "Brad" Gregory to the Elkhorn Water District (term through June 30, 2027), Charlie Burnette to the Farmdale Sanitation District Board (term through June 30, 2027), Christina (Elle) Travis to the Franklin County Board of Health (term through Dec. 31, 2026), Andrea Breeck to the Franklin County Humane Society board (term through March 10, 2027), Ross Thompson to Peaks Mill Water District (term through Dec. 31, 2027), and Church Quarles to Peaks Mill Water District (term through Dec. 31, 2026). Motions and seconders are recorded in the meeting minutes for each reappointment and each motion passed with Squires Sebastian, Blackburn, Dycus, Tracy, Tanner, Whisman and Judge Mueller voting yes.
The court also authorized a closed session under KRS 61.810(1)(f) "discussions or hearings which might lead to the appointment, discipline, or dismissal of an individual employee." The motion to enter closed session (moved by Squire Eric Whisman and seconded by Squire Scotty Tracy) passed unanimously; a later motion returned the court to open session, also by unanimous vote.
Fiscal business included receiving the Treasurer's Quarterly Report covering the six months ending Dec. 31, 2023, and receipt of the Treasurer's Report. The minutes record that no motion was offered to deny a claim and that bills were ordered to be paid.
Under Other Business the court amended the agenda to add a provision naming Magistrate Scotty Tracy as presiding officer in the event of an emergency when the County Judge is absent; the amendment and the subsequent vote to approve Tracy in that role both passed unanimously.
Squire Eric Whisman moved to adjourn, Squire Sherry Sebastian seconded, and the court adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
The meeting record does not include public comment on these items, nor does it record dissent or discussion about the merits of the reappointments or the Treasurer's reports.
