Burleson County Commissioners Court met May 13, 2024 in Caldwell and approved a bundle of routine policy actions, proclamations and appointments that advance the county’s budget process and open the way for federally funded flood and drainage work.
The court voted unanimously to adopt the FY2025 Budget Policy and Calendar, a procedural step that sets deadlines and guidelines for preparing next year’s budget, County Judge Keith Schroeder said as the vote was recorded. Commissioners also approved resolutions designating the County Judge and County Auditor as authorized signatories for contractual documents and fund requests related to the Community Development Block Grant–Mitigation (CDBG‑MIT) Regional Method of Distribution program for flood and drainage improvements to Chestnut Drive and Mallard Road.
Why it matters: the signatory resolution and the appointment of labor‑standards officers are prerequisites for the county to execute contracts and request federal funds for the CDBG‑MIT projects. At the same meeting the court approved updated Financial Policies and Procedures and updated Procurement Policies and Procedures applicable to procurements made with federal funds, measures the county said are required to meet grant conditions.
