The Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners approved several personnel and highway-related items at its April 23 meeting.
Director of Equalization Denise Weber told commissioners the assessor’s office needed extra summer help. The board approved up to 40 hours per week for Tara Meyer and up to 40 hours per week for an additional part‑time staff member (motion by Nick Stotz; second by Colin Soukup).
Highway Superintendent Doug Cimpl updated the board on operations and reported changes in crew staffing. The board approved removing Bridge 12‑114‑059 from the National Bridge Inventory because the structure had been replaced with a box culvert (motion by Colin Soukup; second by Nick Stotz). The board also approved the resignation of crewman Aaron Tronvold effective April 25, 2024, and hired Chance Blaha as a crewman at a rate of $20.01 per hour, effective April 15, 2024 (motion by Nick Stotz; second by Colin Soukup).
Why it matters: staffing decisions will affect the assessor’s capacity during peak season; the bridge removal updates federal/state inventory records to reflect the physical replacement and may affect future bridge inspection and maintenance records. The personnel actions were approved by motion and recorded as carried in the minutes.
