County approves permit renewal, health contract and authorizes auditor on unclaimed property form

At its April 23 meeting the Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners approved several administrative items relating to permits, contracts and county finance.

The board voted to approve the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources permit renewal application for a construction and demolition debris disposal facility and authorized Auditor Jason Gant to sign the renewal. The board also approved an online contract for Community Health Services with the South Dakota Department of Health and authorized Auditor Gant to sign the contract online.

Separately, the board authorized Auditor Jason Gant to act on behalf of Charles Mix County to sign the claim form for Unclaimed Property with the South Dakota State Treasurer’s office. Each item was approved by motion and recorded in the minutes as carried.

Auditor update: Jason Gant reported Initiative Measure petitions were received April 22 and will appear on the May 9 agenda; he also noted an upcoming ES&S 'Protecting Voting Systems' presentation and a future Communities That Care presentation, participation in the South Dakota Retirement System, road maintenance needs (White Lake Rd needs gravel), an employee handbook update, and a new side‑by‑side vehicle purchased by the Weed Department.
