The Dubois County Board of Commissioners on April 15 unanimously adopted Resolution No. 2024-04 authorizing the county to submit a CY2025 application under Section 5311/5339 of the Federal Transit Act to seek federal assistance for nonurbanized public transportation.
The resolution, requested by Becky Gutherie of Ride Solutions, designates Four Rivers Resource Services/DSI Services, Inc. and Southern Indiana Resource Services, Inc. to coordinate and provide rural transit services within Dubois County and authorizes the Southern Indiana Development District to file the application, furnish additional information required by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), and execute 5311 contracts and agreements on the county's behalf.
According to the language of the resolution, the county acknowledges that any financial assistance contract would require the applicant to provide the local share of project costs. The board recorded adoption of the resolution at the meeting and directed staff to proceed with the application process.
The next step is the formal application filing with INDOT and any follow-up information or contracts required for a successful award. INDOT and the Federal Transit Administration will make further determinations on eligibility and funding.
