Butler County awarded the low bid for two farm-to-market rehabilitation projects under Iowa DOT Contract 12-C012-126 and designated the county engineer as the authorized signatory for DOT contract execution.
County Engineer John Riherd presented the projects and bids. The two projects covered by the contract are FM-C012(125)--55-12, a one-mile rehabilitation/resurfacing of Newell Ave north of Highway 3, and FM-C012(126)--55-12, about nine miles of resurfacing on C13 from Packard Ave east to the Bremer County line. Riherd gave the engineer's combined estimate as $3,192,922.90. The lowest responsive bid was submitted by Mathy Construction Company of Onalaska, Wisconsin, at $2,753,087.95. Riherd recommended awarding the contract to Mathy; the board approved the award on a motion by Greg Barnett, seconded by Rusty Eddy (recorded as all ayes).
Following the contract award, the board approved Resolution #2001-2024, which designates John Riherd, County Engineer, as the authorized official to execute contract documents related to DOT-let construction projects through the InfoTech Doc Express and Appia electronic services after receipt of required contract documents (including contractor bond and certificate of insurance). The resolution passed on roll call with ayes recorded for Eddy and Barnett and Wayne Dralle absent.
The minutes record that Riherd will continue coordination with project partners and that the county will follow DOT procedures for contract administration.
