The Green Level Town Council heard an updated FY2024–25 budget proposal on May 9 that holds the town’s property tax rate steady while funding $2.24 million in General Fund expenditures and a 3% merit‑based wage pool for employees.
Budget presenter Will Boney told the council the draft includes $98,800 for sheriff patrols, $69,500 for a new salt truck and related equipment, $340,000 earmarked for parks capital purchases and $144,000 for street and highway repairs. He also projected modest interest earnings, estimating roughly a 2% APR that could yield about $30,000–$40,000 annually.
Town Clerk Taylor Prince confirmed the council will consider the budget ordinance at a public meeting scheduled for June 13, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. Boney said he would prepare a budget ordinance for that meeting. The council did not vote on adoption of the budget on May 9 but asked questions about schedule and next steps.
Mayor Pro‑Tem Patricia Jones asked about how a $350,000 grant listed in the budget for Parks & Recreation would be spent; Boney and Parks & Recreation Director Brandon Enoch said the term “capital improvement” is broad and the line item represents an awarded grant rather than a specific project yet.
The council reserved detailed decisions on spending priorities for the formal budget meeting in June, when the town will consider a draft ordinance and public comment.
